Service Description

This is a Hybrid Course CBE - November 10th (9-5pm) Virtual BDT - November 14th & 15th (4-8pm) Virtual; November 16th & 17th (8:30-4:30pm) In Person This course includes our Childbirth Education Class which covers the basic knowledge to get started as a doula. It is an excellent resource for any professional working with pregnant families. Our coursework is full of learning activities, videos, and in-depth information you won’t find elsewhere. As a participant, you will receive context for childbirth today while examining the political, racial, social, and psychological aspects of birthing and being born, not just the basic biology. The DTD Childbirth Course is required to complete our Birth Doula Training workshop. This is a one-day course that you can take the day before the three-day Birth Doula Training workshop. Our intensive three-day workshop is meticulously crafted to equip you with the expertise needed to excel in providing labor support. During the course, you can expect to: Comprehensive Training Materials: Immerse yourself in a 300+ page training and reference manual. Utilize a variety of resources, including videos, slides, games, and activities for interactive learning. Hands-On Skills Development: Engage in practical sessions to enhance your skills in positioning and comfort measures. Participate in simulations that build confidence and practical application. In-Depth Course Content: Explore the emotional and psychological processes associated with labor and birth. Discuss the role of a labor support person throughout the prenatal, labor, and postpartum periods, emphasizing culturally sensitive support. Learn to enable laboring individuals and their partners to cope with complications and provide trauma-informed care. Empowerment and Advocacy: Assist clients in empowering themselves during labor and advocate effectively. Develop strategies to guide supportive parents through their unique journey of labor and birth. Professional Development: Understand the doula’s standards of practice and ethical code of behavior. Learn practical aspects of setting up a doula practice, including fee establishment, finding clients, and initial planning (over 50+ pages of business resources).
